Author’s copy of the mask of the Bobo people from Burkina Faso and Mali. The original is at the Under the Bo Gallery in Thailand. Dated mid-20th century. The mask called nyanga (escort mask) represents the Roan antelope (Hippotragus koba).
Such masks are used in various rituals to accompany others heroes in sacred masks.
