This great bascinet for a foot tournament belonged to Sir Giles Cappel of the retinue of Henry VIII. It may have been this helmet that Sir Giles wore at the tournaments held at the Field of the Cloth of Gold, the famous meeting between England and France at Calais in 1520. The original is kept in the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
