Author’s copy of a rare mask of the Kela people, Democratic Republic of the Congo. This type of mask is also called Kela-Yela or Mongo-Kela. The mask is used in initiation rites. The eastern forests of the Congo are very difficult to culturally analyze, as many ethnic groups interact with each other in one way or another.
